Mark Cuban's take on the Piston's victory

For the uninitiated, Mark Cuban is the loudmouth owner of the Dallas Mavericks. His assessment of how the Piston's pulled it off is kind of interesting, if not entertaining.

Cuban is correct, ie, both Wallances were put down when the Pistons got them, even in the Detroit paper. But I think they didn't depend so much on the open jump shot but rather on more speed and better cuts/passing than LA. Someone ought to do a Pistons and b-ball version of the Lewis 'Moneyball' book on baseball. Brown and/or Dumars may have a comparable system for picking quality role-players rather than stars. But whatever the reason it leaves one with the feeling that there's some fairness in life, that a down-in-the-dumps, beat-up, and dissed community like Detroit can win, albeit in b-ball, a relatively brainless activity, and without sufficient energy to get on a really good postgame riot. Oh, yes, the game would be a lot more interesing with the usual chalkboarding of plays as is done by that fat guy in NFL games. Get some old Jewish ex-b-ball player to do it, if any are still around -- I'd recommend one of the famous point-shavers of yor.
