What is "the only thing that makes us happy as adults for no reason"?
...according to Saul Steinberg, that is. Read this New Yorker article by Adam Gopnik to find out. I like the Gopnik. He wrote a nice book on France, "Paris to the Moon." As usual, I got about half way thru it before putting it down. In case you're curious, here is an excerpt from Gop's book.

Cool beans. Laura and I (mostly Laura, I note) went thru an entire bottle of "jammy"-tasting merlot last night. Today, I'm told she is off to the beach and then the turtle farm, hangover and all.
I wish I knew more about wine. The problem is the more I read about it, the less I understand it. I mean what is the difference between jammy and tanny? 2-buck chuck is fine with me.
