Photographs of our condo at Dolphin Point (West Bay)

This picture reflects my first glimpse of our building. It was taken from Northwest Point Rd.

The next pic is a close-up of the front of the condo. On a positive note, it still does have a beautiful oceanfront view.

This is the back of the condo. What was here before was a cement wall (that was, in theory, a buffer against the waves), a cement path (that led to the pool), and a green lawn.

This is what remains of the central courtyard and swimming pool. The pool was previously surrounded by a cement patio, a cement bbq area, and cement pavilion.

This is taken from the road. In the empty space, where you see the ocean, there used to stand a 8 unit cement apt. building. It was completely demolished by the hurricane.

Is it possible to get photos of Bonnie's Arch next door to Dolphin Pt.? Can't find any pictures of it.
Would really appreciate it. So sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the pictures...we owned a condo in building 100, which is now at the bottom of the sea. It is so sad...so amazing to see what the fury of the hurricane did to such a beautiful island. The pictures help bring closure for our tremendous loss...so glad that you and your family are safe.

thanks again for posting these pictures. my dad had a condo on the ground floor of the 400 building. I got married at dolphin point two years ago. it's just so amazing that our lovely place is just gone -- i'm still shocked. i had hope things wouldn't be so bad before I saw the pictures. I'm thankful that everyone is okay -- seems like a miracle.

My sentiments entirely: our lovely little place is gone. It was ours for only a short time, but it was by far the most beautiful place I have ever resided. In fact, that little stretch of NW Point Road, from the public beach to the turtle farm, was my favorite part of the island.

Driving along NW Point Road (prior to reaching Dolphin Point), the devestation was so incredible I had anticipated the worst. However, when I first glimpsed the extent of the damage to DP my heart dropped and I cried.

DP will always share a special place in my family's heart.

I lived in West Bay last year, but had to leave Grand Cayman when I was diagnosed with cancer. I am heartbroken to see the devastation of our beautiful island, but very glad you and your loved ones are okay. I lived in Andre's Villas next door and, although I have not heard anything, I can assume from the devastation at DP that our little place has suffered the same fate. I hope the rebuilding of our little slice of paradise goes as quickly as possible. Thank you for sharing your pictures.

Thank you so much for posting the photos of DP. My friends and I lived for a year at DP, my husband and I in the 100 building. We were very fortunate to have made many lifelong friends there and were terrified we would hear the worst, but fortunately all are safe. Some lost everything they had but each other and sadly will be moving from DP. Your pictures made us all think about the important things in life, and the need to treasure every person you welcome into your heart. We are all glad you and your family are well, thanks again.

Al,
The basement option was nixed, largely on the grounds that there are no basements in Cayman. Steph, however, took good care of her boys. Steph took us to a shelter, despite my objections, and we bunkered down for 48 hours. It was an interesting experience. We're now residing at her parent's house and plan to move into an apartment in Evanston, IL this Saturday. Future plans are uncertain. I will have fully functional communications by the end of next week and will post all relevant info on my blog. In the meantime email me at david_burnstein@yahoo.com or crazy@sonbitch.com. Peace out.
